3 shots, 3 hits!
• Unseen video of the test of a Som Khordad system against 3 targets at the same time!
• In this video, we see the simultaneous flight of 3 different types of targets in front of the Som Khordad missile system, which shoots down all 3 targets that were flying in different directions and speeds by simultaneously firing its 3 missiles.
Introduction of goals:
• The first target: At the beginning of the video, we see the flight of the Ababil-2 target UAV , which was flying as target number 1 and of the low-speed approaching type (speed of 12 m/s).
• The second goal: at 0:02 of the video, we see the takeoff of a jet engine target drone that has never been seen before! (It is the first time that this jet engine target UAV is seen in the possession of the IRGC Aerospace Force) This UAV is used as a moving target (with a speed of 100 meters per second).
• The third target: at 0:04 of the video, we also see the takeoff of the Shahid-161 target UAV , which was flying as target number 3 , a low-altitude target (100 meters high).
■ Checking the firings: In the video, we see that all 3 Tayer-2 missiles are fired at their targets in a short period of time.
• The first missile is fired at the first target ( the Ababil-2 UAV, a low-speed approaching target ), which is flying at a speed of 12 meters per second , at a range of 54 kilometers and at an altitude of about 3,200 meters , and finally shoots it down at a range of 53 kilometers .
• The second missile is fired at the second target ( unknown target UAV with a jet engine, moving target ), which is flying at a speed of 100 meters per second , at a range of 26 km and at an altitude of 4340 meters , and finally shoots it down at a range of 31 km.
• The third missile is fired at the third target ( the Shahid-161 UAV, a low altitude target ), which is flying at a speed of 40 meters per second , at a range of 14 kilometers and at a height of about 100 meters , and finally shoots it down at a range of 13 kilometers .
• Finally, we see that all 3 downed targets and the wreckage of target drones are seen at 0:23 of the video.
■ Footnote 1 : At 0:27 of the video, we see some announced specifications of the Som Khordad system, including a radar range of 260 km and target tracking with a cross-sectional area of 2 square meters at a range of 160 km.
■ Footnote 2 : In the same table and specifications, we see the announcement of the name “Tayer-3” for the 200 km missile of Som Khordad system, which was mentioned earlier in the channel.
■ Footnote 3 : Regarding the missiles that can be used on the Som Khordad system, the name of Sayad-3 missile is also seen.
■ Footnote 4 : All 3 downed targets (especially Shahid-161 and Ababil-2 UAVs) have a very low cross-sectional area, and in general, the simultaneous downing of all 3 of these targets with 3 missiles fired from a missile of the Somkhordad system is very interesting.
The Som Khordad missile system is a key part of Iran’s air defense capabilities, known for its mobility and versatility. Here are some key aspects of the system:
