In this issue we talk about: DLL Hacking, Ransomware Forensic, Metasploitable3, Video steganography, phishing, defacing, Freenet, Gothic 2 and much more!

I was very struck by the speech of the prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, who outlined a worrying panorama but also enlightening about the ‘Ndrangheta and its “embrace of innovation.” This strategic shift shows us that the battle against the mafias no longer takes place only in the shadows of the alleys, but even in the dark recesses of digital.
It’s disturbing to think that people gifted with advanced skills in cybersecurity may find themselves at the service of organizations criminals. This raises a crucial question for the hacker community: what values do they represent? How can we differentiate ourselves from those individuals who they choose to use their skills for real purposes not very shareable?!
I hope I’m wrong, but it seems like forces of the Italian order, once considered among the best in the world, are now in difficulty, above all due to the lack of resources and investments. Nevertheless, as the FBI demonstrates with the Anom platform, the right combination of technology and strategy can create decisive turning points. In my opinion, all but really everyone, we must join forces and put the skills at the service of the common good.
The challenge launched by Gratteri cannot and must not fall into the void. Technology, in the right hands, it must be the definitive weapon against crime.
The choice, in practice, is up to us.
