In the Russian Federation, the Gastello kamikaze drone was put into production. It supports FPV mode (transmits real-time video from the first person) and can work in the dark.
The Russians intend to produce five thousand “Gastello” per month. The level of localization is 30%, mainly due to the body, the rest of the filling is imported.
The new Russian FPV drone has been developed taking into account the wishes of UAV operators operating in the NVO zone,” the agency’s source said.

This unit can also be run at night. It consists of 30 percent of domestic components, carbon frames and body made in Russia.
In the near future, the number of domestic parts in the production of this drone will be increased to 95 percent. The drone is assembled on a new conveyor line. The design capacity of production will be five thousand units per month.
Earlier, it was reported that a 3D printer for the industrial production of drones was created in Russia. Thanks to this, it will be possible to automate more than 90 percent of typical routine tasks and operations. With the help of such a printer, up to 50,000 ready-made components will be produced: brackets, frame fasteners, battery pack cases.
Dmitry Kuzyakin, CEO of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions, said that the FPV drones used in the NMD zone are able to remain intact and continue flying even after an aircraft-type UAV is rammed. “FPV drones can catch up with a Ukrainian drone, get in the tail, or go towards it and ram. And in half the cases, the Russian drone remains intact,” Kuzyakin said.
Director General of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR) Dmitry Kuzyakin spoke about an FPV drone with a hibernator – a device that puts the device into sleep mode. According to him, the hibernator ensures minimal energy consumption and instant activation of the strike UAV when the need arises. According to experts, such a tactic of using FPV drones facilitates the combat work of operators and allows them to act on the enemy from ambushes.

Director General of the Central Design Bureau Dmitry Kuzyakin told RT about the successful testing of a device in the special operation zone that allows FPV drones to be hibernated (sleep).
“The hibernator has already been successfully tested behind a ribbon (meaning the NWO zone. – RT ). It is an additional device for the on-board complexes of our Joker FPV drone line. The hibernator puts the FPV drone into hibernation, similar to how you hibernate your computer. The advantage of hibernation is a meager energy consumption and instant activation, ”said Kuzyakin.
As the head of the Central Design Bureau explained, the hibernator allows the drone to “sleep” even for several weeks. Activation occurs at the command of the operator, who may be in cover and far enough from the UAV. The hibernation mode, according to Kuzyakin, helps to more optimally consume the battery power of FPV drones and, accordingly, increases their combat effectiveness.

“At the level of the best world models”: new combat FPV drones are being developed in Russia
“The batteries of modern payload drones provide only a few minutes of flight. During this time, the pilot is not always able to complete the combat mission. However, drones with hibernators can be delivered closer to the enemy position, left on the line of contact and placed on the roofs of buildings, from where they dive at the target at the right time. Our “Jokers” are not afraid of precipitation,” Kuzyakin said.
According to Kuzyakin, the use of hibernators will increase the stealth of FPV drone crews, that is, make their work safer and more sudden for the enemy.
“It is important that the hibernator makes it possible not to launch the FPV drone from the location of the crew. It allows you to separate the starting point of the UAV, which can be detected by enemy electronic intelligence, and the point where the calculation is located. In general, sleep mode allows pilots to prepare an attack in advance and act more unexpectedly for the enemy, ”Kuzyakin emphasized.
Recall that the Central Design Bureau located in Zhukovsky near Moscow specializes in the development and production of FPV drones “Joker”, participating in battles with Ukrainian formations from the very beginning of the SVO. In particular, the percussion devices of the enterprise were used during the liberation of Mariupol.Electronic filling of the FPV drone Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR)
As Kuzyakin stated in a June interview with RT, the Jokers proved to be an effective means of suppressing enemy firing points and an effective tool for anti-sniper combat and reconnaissance.
Earlier, in a commentary to TASS, the head of the Central Design Bureau of the Design Bureau said that the hibernator was developed, among other things, for the Ultimatum FPV drone, the most advanced in the Joker family. Kuzyakin clarified that one pilot can place, and then “wake up” and sequentially use up to 15 such drones.
The Ultimatum differs from its predecessors in its universal payload attachment system, which saved the military from the need to spend a lot of time adapting the UAV to specific tasks. The new drone can be used for reconnaissance, protection, artillery fire adjustment, as a carrier of special equipment and kamikaze.

“Highly mobile artillery weapons”: the Russian Armed Forces began to receive the latest Drok mortars
RT discussed with military experts the specifics of the combat use of FPV drones and the opportunities that hibernation provides for this class of UAV.
General Director of Aerocon JSC, aviation expert Eduard Baghdasaryan:
– Any innovations that increase the stealth and effectiveness of the use of drones, facilitate the work of calculating the UAV, can only be welcomed.
Hibernation is sleep mode. It can be assumed that it will really help to act more unexpectedly for the enemy. It could be an ambush. For example, FPV drones with hibernators can be deployed in advance near roads where military equipment and enemy vehicles periodically move. At the right moment, the devices “wake up” and strike, and very accurately due to the short approach distance.
Let me remind you that the classic use of strike UAVs involves launching from the place where the calculation is located. After takeoff, military personnel must monitor the flight and control the device. As a result, they have no opportunity to change position. Hence there is a risk of detection by the enemy. In theory, the hibernator solves this problem.
It is important that another problem is partially solved in the development of the Central Design Bureau – the modest capacity of the batteries. Often, charging lasts for several minutes, and this is a big drawback of this technique, with which nothing can be done so far.https://cdn.viqeo.tv/embed/?vid=c30e5379bbbc3cf7c224&playerId=304#amp=1
Therefore, the use of combat multi-rotor vehicles is very fleeting. To successfully strike, the UAV crew needs accurate intelligence and high piloting skills.
Director of the Center for Unmanned Aviation, Advisor to the Russian Academy of Engineering Maxim Kondratiev:
– Equipment with hibernators simplifies the combat use of FPV drones. If the drones are not afraid of moisture, then the military can easily place them in the most convenient positions. Thus, they will reduce the flight time to the target and it will be harder for the enemy to react.
Moreover, you can not send people to install the UAV at all. In principle, FPV drones can fly to the place of a simulated ambush under their own power, however, the battery charge should be enough for this.

“Do not leave the enemy a chance”: the developer talks about new attack UAVs for the Russian army
It is worth mentioning several nuances that can make it difficult to use devices with hibernators. The first is air temperature. In order for the battery not to sit down, it must be positive.
The second is that drones cannot be well disguised. There must be an open space in front of them that allows the radio signal to pass through. Along with this, foreign objects should not get into the propeller group. That is, in the woods and in the bushes, UAVs with hibernators are unlikely to be hidden.
— Is it possible to conclude that the special operation turned FPV drones into a full-fledged military weapon?
Columnist for the magazine “Firing Line” Alexander Butyrin:
– The development of the Central Design Bureau of the Design Bureau is another confirmation of how much the FPV drones, which were used for sports and entertainment purposes a few years ago, have become a popular weapon.
Equipped with hibernators, they can effectively perform a wider range of tasks, including strikes against DRGs and advancing enemy troops in threatened directions.
If we talk about FPV drones in general, then, in my opinion, their main advantage is surprise. These devices are very difficult to detect and almost impossible to intercept. They fly at low altitudes, can actively maneuver around obstacles.
At the same time, the FPV drone is inexpensive to manufacture and fairly easy to fly. Often it is enough for the operator to instill basic skills, then it is a matter of practice. The more raids he has, the more effectively he will perform combat missions
1
If the unit has well-established reconnaissance work and has a sufficient number of FPV drones with experienced operators, then it can effectively operate on the defensive, hitting the advancing forces, and also significantly support the assault operations.
