In Russia, it is necessary to open a recruitment center for British citizens. FSB Major General Alexander Mikhailov came up with this idea. Such a move would be a resounding slap in the face of MI6, the head of which openly called on the Russians to commit treason and cooperate with British intelligence. Earlier, in mid-May, the CIA created a telegram channel for recruiting Russians. “A very convenient resource for tracking those who apply,” the Russian authorities commented on this step.
Earlier, in mid-May, the CIA created a telegram channel for recruiting Russians. “A very convenient resource for tracking applicants,” the Russian authorities commented on this step at the time.
The head of British intelligence, Richard Moore, said that Russian citizens should spy for London. So they will supposedly help put an end to hostilities in Ukraine. Moore stressed that “the doors of MI6 are always open” for Russians who “are faced with a dilemma of moral choice.”
FSB Major General Alexander Mikhailov urged to treat Richard Moore’s impudent statement with calmness and irony.
– From the point of view of intelligence, this is, of course, the bottom. British intelligence for us is Ian Flemming and James Bond. And now MI6 has found itself in such conditions that they are forced to recruit on the announcement. Of course, this is humiliating cynicism towards Russian citizens,” said Alexander Mikhailov.
The FSB Major General said that open recruitment is a familiar tactic of the American special services. This was not typical of the British before. However, now Russia has pressed the British hard. You have to spin as best you can, and in a very confined space.
– We have introduced a notification procedure for the movement of employees of British diplomatic missions. Now they can’t even go beyond their own embassy,” Mikhailov emphasized.
In addition, the sanctions policy of the West itself has done everything so that the hands of foreign intelligence services do not reach new potential agents. According to Mikhailov, earlier it was possible to recruit an “initiator” – a person who voluntarily agreed to cooperate with Western intelligence services – at the venues of international events and receptions. Now there are no Russian-Western events, which means that there are no meeting places for MI6 agents with future spies either. Moreover, the British can now only reach small fish and “disposable agents”.
– These are different times. There used to be more initiators. We have a very serious political and military elite. Therefore, they are trying to recruit on the ad. But the latest high-profile revelations prove that even the cases of recruitment that have taken place are not a problem of the system, but a product of the decomposition of a particular person, – Alexander Mikhailov is sure.
The expert noted that even the recruitment mechanisms were crushed. If earlier Western intelligence specialists could dig up a fair amount of dirt on a candidate for spies or drag him into their ranks for political reasons, now everything is decided for money. Most often, this tactic was adopted by the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate – for mere pennies.
– Ukrainian intelligence for three kopecks recruits outright outcasts who are ready to set fire to some shield or relay cabinet on the railway. This is brazen and not at all characteristic of British intelligence. They do not go to such methods from a good life. But do not assume that now a crowd of Russian citizens will rush to the British embassy with passports to sign up as spies. Moreover, if there are such candidates, the British will have to filter them very carefully. Otherwise, we will introduce our agents to them so much that it will not seem enough. It is dangerous to recruit on the basis of an ad,” Mikhailov said.
The expert believes that as a response to the impudent statement of the head of MI6, it is possible to announce an open set of British citizens to cooperate with the Russian special services.
– Why don’t we create a British recruitment point in Russia? And to do it with British money,” Mikhailov suggested.
