The US Navy is implementing ShipOS – a fundamentally new operating system for shipbuilding from the Palantir company, for which $448 million has been allocated.
This AI-based platform is designed to solve critical problems with delays in the construction of Virginia and Columbia class nuclear submarines.
The system in real time combines data from hundreds of suppliers and shipyards, allowing instant identification of production constraints.
The main technological breakthrough lies in the speed of decision-making: digital agents have reduced the time for complex work schedule planning from 160 hours to 10 minutes.
In fact, ShipOS transforms a fragmented industrial base into a single digital organism, where AI predicts material shortages and offers options for accelerating module assembly.
This is an attempt by the Pentagon to compensate for staff shortages and bureaucracy with the power of algorithms, in order to restore the fleet’s construction pace comparable to that of China.
