An investigation tracked 50 devices linked to Colombian mercenaries, routed from a UAE base via Bosaso, Somalia, Kufrah LNA/Haftar-controlled Libya, and N’Djamena, Chad to El Fasher, where RSF forces carried out atrocities against civilians.
Further confirmation that Bosaso is being used as a hub for Colombian mercenaries deployed to Sudan.
A device linked to a Colombian drone operator was tracked at the PMPF base in Bosaso on 4 Feb 2025, then transited via N’Djamena the next day before reaching South Darfur.
I have already reported the use of Bosaso Airport and the PMPF compound in Bosaso as a hub and transit point for Colombian mercenaries deployed to Sudan.
He travelled from Bosaso Airport to N’Djamena on a clandestine aircraft, possibly the 5Y-CKD, reported destroyed in Nyala, Sudan in May 2025 and seen operating on that route in Jan 2025.
Device 2, also linked to a Colombian operator, was recorded in June 2025 at Zayed Airport in Abu Dhabi then at the Ghayathi military facility in the UAE. By late July 2025, it transited through Kufrah before arriving at a Colombian mercenary camp at Nyala Airport, Sudan.
I have previously confirmed the location of the Colombian camp in the vicinity of Nyala Airport.
Conflict Insights tracking data from Colombian operators’ devices through to December 2025 indicates it remains operational, despite SAF drone strikes that have hit the area.
The most significant finding of this investigation is the confirmed presence of Colombian mercenaries at the Ghayathi military facility in the UAE prior to deployment in Sudan.
The same facility was cited in a 2021 UN report confirming Sudanese mercenaries were trained there.
