A new anti-terrorism (LOTAR – counter-terrorism) unit has been created in the Israel Defense Forces, which will operate within the 143rd Territorial Division, responsible for the territorial defense of Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip.
The new unit was created as part of learning lessons from the investigation into the events of “Black Saturday” on October 7 and will provide a prompt response to various threats.
It is already known that the new unit will include combat reservists who served in various elite units and live in settlements near Gaza.
Hundreds of reservists have already applied for service, and selection is underway for special exercises that will take place in the coming weeks.
