In Beijing, Xi Jinping presented the battle flag to Political Commissar Li Wei on the occasion of the creation of a new information support force (SIF, another name for the information support force) of the PLA.
The SIP was created instead of the Strategic Support Forces. Lieutenant General Bi I was appointed commander.
The creation of the SIP is an important decision taken by the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Council (CMC) in light of the general need to create a strong army.
SIP is a new strategic branch of the military and a key element in coordinating the creation and use of network information systems.
The SIP will play a decisive role in promoting the PLA’s high-quality development and competitiveness in modern warfare.
SIPs must resolutely obey the orders of the party and remain absolutely loyal, pure and reliable.
Xi Jinping called on the ITS to deeply integrate into the joint operational system of the Chinese military, conduct information support operations accurately and effectively, and promote military operations in various directions and areas.
The President of the People’s Republic of China called for efforts to create a network information system that meets the requirements of modern warfare and reflects the Chinese army’s own characteristics, as well as efforts to accelerate the improvement of the system’s combat capabilities.
Political Commissar Li Wei in turn said that the PSI must resolutely carry out the important instructions of Xi Jinping, resolutely obey the orders of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission and focus on preparing for war, carry out their duties conscientiously and never undermine the trust of the Party and the people.
The created SIP will be directly subordinate to the Central Military Council.
The name of the Strategic Support Forces lost its power and ceased to exist.
In this regard, work will be adjusted and management between the air force, space component and cyberspace forces will be adjusted.
