The creators of the S-400 patented
unmanned interceptor drone, the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, has published a patent for interceptor unmanned aerial vehicle.  Copyright for the development owned by the Almaz-Antey aerospace defense concern.

A compact interceptor drone commissioned by Almaz-Antey was created by a student design bureau Moscow Aviation Institute.  23-kilogram apparatus with a three-meter wing built according to the canard aerodynamic configuration, armed with automatic 12 gauge carbine and is capable of staying in the air for up to 40 minutes.

The main goal of the developers of a “regular” drone is to achieve flight quality.

We had the task of lifting an apparatus with weapons into the sky, ensuring maximum stability of its operation and high accuracy of hitting the target.  Duck pattern made it possible to concentrate the application of forces from firing close to the center of mass of the UAV.

According to the developers, the interceptor drone combines the advantages of an aircraft and copter. 

It is controlled by an operator who receives data from on-board cameras detection, guidance and aiming.  Fixed under the fuselage smoothbore carbine 12 caliber “Vepr Hammer” with electronic trigger and magazine for 10 rounds.

The development has passed a full cycle of tests, including assessment of controllability and shooting accuracy, and handed over to the customer,” Trifonov said.
