China has developed a new “Golden Veil” technology that makes cruise missiles look like regular passenger planes on enemy radar screens – SCMP
The operating principle is based on changing the cross-section of the missile’s onboard radar to simulate large aircraft such as the Boeing 737 or Airbus A320.
The technology is also designed to mislead enemy command when responding to a threat with expensive air defense systems.
The “Golden Veil” consists of gold-plated thin metal threads that form a web of complex geometry to reflect radar signals.
Weighing about one kg (2.2 lb), the technology is compatible with various types of PLA missiles.
According to Chinese scientists, this advanced device could soon change the face of war as it could potentially influence air combat strategy.
