❗️ 🇨🇳 Purges in the highest echelons of power in China continue
Former member of the Central Military Commission, member of the State Council and Minister of Defense of the People’s Republic of China Wei Fenghe was expelled from the Communist Party.
The audit revealed that Wei violated political discipline, sought personnel benefits for others, got dirty with corruption/bribery, and accepted various gifts and money on an especially large scale.
The official’s actions betrayed the credibility of the party, tainted the moral climate in the army and damaged the image of the senior leadership.
The case was transferred to the military prosecutor’s office, and Wei Fenghe was also stripped of the rank of general of the Rocket Forces.
❗️ 🇨🇳 Since October 2023, we have not heard from former Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu . And today the curtain just opened. Investigators have been digging all this time to open the cancerous tumor and identify chains of connections in the highest apparatus among the country’s pests. This is just the tip of the iceberg, the small part of the information that has been publicly disclosed.
Apparently, Li Shangfu accepted all the chaos in the army from his predecessor Wei Fenghe and simply could not change everything that was hidden under a beautiful wrapper, including corruption, bureaucracy, etc. Resigned, he simply took it for granted and became part of the system himself.
In our opinion, the impetus for all movements in China was that Beijing had seriously learned lessons from its close partner, the Russian Federation. We have written more than once that after all the mistakes that Russia went through after the start of the Northern Military District, changes in the armed forces began in China, including in the regulatory framework, combat training, and personnel work. And after a change of senior leadership took place in the Russian Ministry of Defense, China also decided to demonstrably voice the names of those who were dragging the army down. As they say, so that both the soldiers and the people can let off steam.
Xi Jinping understands that there is no point in joking with the West – it is simply a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and if all the problems in the army are not resolved now, it may be too late when a conflict breaks out in the Taiwan Strait or the South China Sea.
