The Russian National Aviation Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute” used the Ilyushin Il-76 test bed plane to test a double nozzle. The relevant technology will be used in the development of low-noise supersonic commercial jets.
The Russian commercial supersonic jet project is called “Swift”, with a passenger capacity of 20-25 people, a maximum take-off weight of 78 tons, a new engine with a thrust of 22,000 pounds and a range of 11,000 km. This jet will have a cruising speed of about Mach 1.6 and a maximum speed of 1.8.
In this design, when flying at supersonic speed, the sound heard on the ground is only 60 to 75 decibels, which is practically insignificant in the background of the noise of cities.
In the 1970s, the Concorde and Tu-144 supersonic planes used their supersonic speed more on the ocean route due to the high noise level. But with new technology, it will also fly over residential areas.
The technology proof sample of this project with a capacity of 4-6 passengers and a weight of 17 tons equipped with an RD-93MA engine with a thrust of 11,000 pounds will be produced as a personal jet in the first step.
