On Saturday, April 30, a fire engulfed Sakhalin GRES-2 in Russia. The turbine compartment started, after which the fire spread to the roof. Rescuers are trying to extinguish it.


This was reported by Russian media, citing official sources. It is noted that currently the technological process at the power plant is completely stopped, but the energy supply to Sakhalin consumers is still ongoing.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry for Emergencies of Russia in the Sakhalin region said that 30 employees left the burning building of the GRES on their own. There are no victims.


Sakhalinenergo reported that the cause of the fire was the shutdown of one of the turbogenerators.

Earlier reports that an explosion occurred in a residential high-rise building in St. Petersburg, Russia . 40 people were evacuated from the house. According to preliminary data, the cause of the explosion was sabotage.
