Taiwan’s largest switching power supply manufacturer Delta Electronics, a leading supplier of $9 billion to Apple, Tesla, HP and Dell, has been the victim of a ransomware attack.
The daring attack was carried out by Conti, according to CTWANT. The incident became known on Friday morning, the official statement was made on January 2, 2022. The incident affected only non-critical systems and did not affect its operation. But the company’s website, by the way, is still down.
Delta is currently working on system recovery and is also investigating with Trend and Microsoft. During the negotiations, Conti was billed $15 million for decrypting 1,500 servers and 12,000 computers (out of a network of approximately 65,000 devices). The extortionists also promised a discount if the company hurried with the buyout.
What we have learned so far is that the Atera Cobalt Strike attack pattern was similar to the REvil attack on one of Apple’s suppliers, as reported by AdvIntel.
