UAE may abandon American F-35

Representatives of the UAE do not exclude withdrawal from the multimillion-dollar contract for the purchase of American F-35 bombers, Reaper drones and other high-tech military equipment.  This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials.

USA says “China was secretly building a military facility in a port area near the UAE capital Abu Dhabi”

According to sources of the publication, in the Emirates, the requirements put forward by the United States to protect weapons from espionage by China are considered too onerous.  The planned contract is worth $ 23 billion.

China was building a secret naval base in UAE, reportedly without permission. If they have such an attempted physical presence, image their local cyber capabilities with Huawei and Etisalat.

At the same time, this does not mean an unequivocal rejection of the deal, but may be an element of bargaining on the eve of the two-day visit of the UAE delegation to the US Department of Defense.

UAE ‘very worried’ over having to pick sides in US-China rivalry, official says

A top official in the United Arab Emirates has sounded the alarm about escalating tensions between China and the United States, delivering one of the starkest regional warnings yet about competition between the two powers.“We’re all worried, very much, by a looming Cold War,” UAE presidential diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash said on Saturday at a conference in Abu Dhabi.“That is bad news for all of us because the idea of choosing is problematic in the international system, and I think this is…

“US officials acknowledged the receipt of the message from the UAE and the concern of this country.  At the same time, there is growing concern in the United States about China’s influence over the UAE, and the conditions are designed to protect the fifth generation fighter jet and advanced drones from Chinese spying, ”the newspaper writes.

Construction has been halted on a secret development inside of a Chinese shipping port near Abu Dhabi. The UAE embassy in Washington DC, meanwhile, issued a statement saying, “The UAE has never had an agreement plan, talks or intention to host a Chinese military base or outpost of any kind.”

At the same time, the Pentagon emphasizes that they continue to remain committed to the concluded agreement and are ready for discussion in order to settle all the issues that have arisen.

Chinese “boots on the ground” in the UAE highly likely growing in scope amd fumction.
