Project 956E and 956EM destroyers at once during exercises of the Eastern Fleet of the PLA Navy

Rare pictures of two Project 956E and 956EM destroyers at once in the exercises of the Eastern Fleet of the PLA Navy’s. The first photo shows the Russian-made destroyer, project 956-E “Hangzhou” (hull number 136), which was modernized at a shipyard in Shanghai. Instead of the beam launcher of the Shtil air defense missile system, an HHQ-10 air defense missile launcher appeared, followed by vertical HHQ-16 air defense missile launchers, and the new YJ-12A anti-ship missiles instead of the Mosquito anti-ship missile system.
The second destroyer of the same type “Ningbo” of project 956EM was completed from the Russian EM “Eternal” (serial number 892), which after September 28, 2006 was also renamed. On November 15, 2002, the ship was laid down at Severnaya Verf, and launched on July 23, 2004. In the fall of 2006, the ship sailed to China – on November 13, 2006, it arrived in Ningbo and entered the Eastern Fleet of the PLA Navy.
