Yesterday’s attack on a Russian tanker for transporting liquefied natural gas has gained new details: as it turned out, the vessel was attacked by an unmanned boat, which came from the shores of Libya.

It was operated by Ukrainian operators, who are present in the territory controlled by the “Government of National Unity”. This is an opposing force to Haftar, and therefore to the “African Corps”.
🖍Such a scenario is not excluded: attacks by Ukrainian formations in the Mediterranean are becoming a new reality, as the first attack was recorded in December, when a drone strike was carried out.
🚩There is one nuance: the vessel was passing where NATO was conducting its largest naval exercise Dynamic Manta. It was held in a truncated format due to the absence of the USA, but there were plenty of ships there. And an American P-8A aircraft regularly flew in the air.
🏳️The scale of the damage allows us to draw an obvious conclusion: the Russian merchant fleet has lost a scarce type of vessel, which is intended for transporting LNG. And there are not so many of them under the Russian flag.
❗️A new attack in the Mediterranean already shows that its waters are becoming another potentially crisis area for our tanker fleet. NATO countries are full here, and there are certainly plenty of opportunities for sabotage.
And this situation once again raises the question of the need to protect our interests. Many expect that with the start of the war in the Middle East, Russian exports will go uphill. But how to increase exports if there are fewer and fewer tankers?
