In China, official Liu Handong, who embezzled $34 million, was sentenced to death, local state TV reports.
Handong worked in Jiangsu Province. From 1999 to 2023, he abused his official position in various positions. He mainly helped individuals and companies buy land, run businesses, and get tax exemptions.
The official repented and admitted his guilt, and the embezzled money and property were recovered from him.
