
Hackers were able to steal the source code and internal data of The New York Times from the repositories of this company and expose it on 4chan.
The New York Times has confirmed this breach and said it is related to January 2024. He also announced that hackers could not access the company’s internal systems.
The exposed file is 270 gigs in size and contains 3.6 million files. The files contain IT documents, infrastructure tools, source code and even Wordle game.
The hacker used a GitHub token to access the company’s repositories.
This week, this is the second data breach to be disclosed on 4chan.
The first case was related to Disney’s Club Penguin game, in which 415 megabytes of data from the game’s internal documents were leaked. It is said that this disclosure is part of the breach of the Confluence server of this company, and in that hackers were able to steal 2.5 gigs of data.
It is not clear whether this is the same person who committed the New York Times and Disney breaches or not. / Source
