Today is February 24th. Don’t know what to do? Here is a list of activities compiled by our activists from Russia:
If you are in Russia or cannot declare your anti-war position on your own behalf, convey your words to the foreign cells of the FAS – they will take your words to the protests.
◼️ You can join the “Way Home” movement in Moscow or organize a similar one in your city. Safety instructions are here .
◼️ Support yourself and each other: gather with your loved ones for a support group, a joint movie night, write letters to political prisoners or make collages. More ideas can be found in our workbook for Anti-War Awareness Growth Groups .
◼️ Laying flowers and candles – including in the most unobvious places – to remind that grief and grief are ubiquitous. It is important to remember that any additional symbols such as ribbons or posters increase the risk of detention. And many more monuments are now being patrolled because of memorials to Navalny. Safety instructions are here .
◼️ Anti-war propaganda and posting. Carrying posters and stickers with you can be unsafe: our activists suggest buying self-adhesive paper for stickers and carrying a marker with you. Anti-war stickers can be made and left in closed spaces without cameras, such as toilet stalls. Safety instructions for agitators are here .
◼️ You can also express grief indirectly: for example, through public reading of non-banned anti-war literature (this could be classics like Hemingway and Vonnegut) or public crying in public transport.
◼️ Helping refugees from Ukraine: you can get together to volunteer with your loved ones. A list of TAPs by region is here . A list of helping initiatives that you can come to volunteer and donate to is here .
Remember that there are no universal/100% safe activity formats. You can decide what to do based on your context and risks.
