The first “Orthodox cyberschool” was opened in Russia – priests teach children to control drones there.
The Sunday Cyber School “Voznesenie” (yes, that’s its real name) opened on September 1 in the Kuban Armavir at the church of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh.
The rector of the temple, Igor Biryukov, among others, teaches the children of parishioners to assemble and launch drones:
“eSports is a very effective tool for working with youth.”

As it became known on September 5, since the beginning of the month, the first Sunday cyber school in Russia at an Orthodox church on the basis of an Orthodox church has been launched in Armavir, where children are taught to control UAVs.
The Voznesenie esports school has been opened at the church of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh in the Armavir diocese of the Krasnodar Territory since the beginning of the academic year.
It is attended by the children of local parishioners, who study in two classes of 6-8 people in each. They study computer science, mathematics, and physics in the cyber class. It is also planned to teach children programming, musical editing of spiritual chants in audio editors, 3D modeling.
At the cyber school, boys and girls are also taught how to operate UAVs, which are available at the temple.
– Shortly before that, I visited Moscow and met there with the head of the eSports Department of the Faculty of Gaming Industry and eSports of the Synergy University Elena Skarzhinskaya, – explained the rector of the temple Igor Biryukov. – She showed me the Moscow Cyber School. I was very impressed and learned a lot for myself. I was especially interested in developments in the field of socialization and educational work formats, as well as educational subjects from the field of computer sports. Therefore, when I returned to the parish, I had the idea to create not just a Sunday school, but a Sunday Cyber School.
Moreover, the priest took courses on controlling drones, and now he is teaching this to young people.
