China is building facilities on Triton Island in the South China Sea
(as of August 10, 2023)
▪️ A runway (runway) with a length of up to 609 m and a width of up to 13 m is being built. The runway will be able to receive short takeoff and landing aircraft (turboprops and light aircraft), helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles of medium and long flight duration.
▪️ A working area has been created, and a cement plant has been built.
▪️ Previously, the island had only an observation station with two fairings, a small harbor and a helipad.
