Manual for promoting impact content on Twitter.
On March 31, 2023, Twitter released part of its code, including the recommender algorithm code. All this was carefully examined by caring citizens and found out a lot of interesting things ….
The experts found:
1. Likes, retweets and replies give an ambiguous boost (probability of promotion) to the publication rating:
— each like x30 boost;
— each retweet x20;
– each replay x1.
2. Pictures and videos also give x2 boost.
3. Using the language as indicated in the profile helps. Using another language is not. If you are targeting an English-speaking audience, then the profile language should also be English.
4. Links hurt promotion. External links are marked as spam. That is, if you want to promote something, it is better to write a tweet in text, and post a link in the replay to it.
5. Each ignore, block by another user, unfollowing, spam report and other complaints reduce the likelihood that a tweet will fall into recommendations.
6. Purchasable blue verification checkmark significantly adds boost.
7. Any misinformation reduces the boost. Classification of misinformation (fake) occurs separately on the platform.
8. All profiles are grouped into “similar groups”. You are much more likely to be shown a particular tweet if the tweet was written by someone in your “group”.
9. Posting outside of the user’s normal topics hurts the boost. If a user wrote about IT, but then started to post tweets about their dishes in the kitchen, then this reduces the chance of a boost.
10. Making up words and writing with mistakes is bad. These actions reduce the likelihood of a tweet being promoted.
11. Top datasets for ranking on Twitter:
— involvement (engagement) — likes, retweets, replays;
— subscribers (Followers) — subscription/unsubscription, reports;
– user data (user data) – how many followers and the graph of subscribers.
