In 2018, by changing the direct supervision of the media, the Communist Party has tightened its control over the media in areas such as print, film, press and key content related to the Central Committee. Media companies are told to be loyal to the Chinese Communist Party, and Chinese Internet companies are urged to vigorously maintain and develop “ideological security” in society.
