The first of very likely dozens of disinformation from Russian stooges on the release of Sarin in Mariupol. This is standard Putin and follows Russian protocol aka Syrian Sarin Use after massive bombing meant to depopulate before Chem use to mop up. Then use the denazification card. Below is the start:
Fake: Russian troops used a chemical weapon (probably Sarin) in Mariupol by spraying an unknown substance from a UAV. This was reported in the telegram channel of the national battalion “Azov”.
Truth: The Russian army could not use chemical weapons, simply because they do not have them. Back in 2017, Russia completely destroyed all of its stockpiles of chemical weapons, including sarin. This was confirmed by Hamid Ali Rao, Deputy Director General of the Technical Secretariat of the International Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Oppositional Russian and Ukrainian publications also wrote about the early liquidation of all chemical weapons in Russia. There are simply no chemical troops in Russia.
Azov’s information is picked up by fake accounts of Ukrainian politicians, for example, Aleksey Arestovich, an adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine. At the same time, this information is not available in Arestovich’s official channel.
This is not the first time that Russia has been accused of using poisons on the territory of Ukraine, but every time these fakes turn out to be unfounded, the explosions of tanks with dangerous substances are carried out by the national battalions or the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, the United States stated that Russia could use chemical weapons in Ukraine, which provoked a protest from Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who called such statements by Washington “malicious insinuations.”
Probably, the Azov militants understand that in the next few hours their positions at the Azovstal plant will be taken and, in a fit of panic, they throw in outright lies in the hope of causing a worldwide outcry. It looks like the desire of the Kiev authorities to glorify the actions of the Azov nationalists and avoid responsibility for not providing them with assistance and refusing to try to negotiate the surrender of the city.
We give objective information about what is happening in Ukraine and the territories of Donbass. We dissect fakes and give links to rebuttals.
The above denial and deflection is right from the playbook.
Of Note: The above Russian government proxy site points to a false 2017 dog and pony show where Putin destroyed all chemical weapons.
