Various dioceses of Belarus report that priests of the Belarusian Orthodox Church are increasingly resorting to such a form of spiritual protest as refusing to mention Patriarch Kirill.
Dioceses and local authorities are already aware that such a process is gaining momentum, and put pressure on priests who do not remember the head of the ROC. It should be noted that this process is spontaneous, not organized, priests make decisions independently and with the support of their parishioners, guided by their own moral principles.
With the beginning of the war in Ukraine, dissatisfaction with Patriarch Kirill is growing among many Orthodox. Cyril not only did not address words of support to his Ukrainian flock, but also, in fact, blessed Putin’s war. A number of those dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church that remained under the Moscow Patriarchate have ceased to commemorate him in worship, and some have called for independence from Moscow.
