Operational information of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Russian invaders are carrying out activities that are dangerous for the plant. On March 27, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed about this on Facebook.

The continuation of the militarization by the Russian occupation forces of the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is noted. This seriously increases the risk of damage to the insulation structures built over the fourth power unit of the station after its explosion in 1986.

The Ukrainian military warns that such damage “will inevitably lead to a significant amount of radioactive dust entering the atmosphere and infecting not only Ukraine, but also other European countries.”

The occupying forces of the Russian Federation ignore the threats and warnings and continue to transport and store a significant amount of ammunition in the immediate vicinity of the nuclear power plant.

According to him, from the base of the Russian military in the Gomel region of Belarus to Ukraine through the city of Pripyat and “a few hundred meters from the isolation facilities of the nuclear power plant” “tens of tons of rockets, shells for cannon artillery, mortar ammunition” are transported daily.

Further storage of ammunition is carried out in the city of Chernobyl, adjacent to Pripyat, which is also located at an insignificant distance from the nuclear power plant. In the city of Chernobyl, the occupiers deployed a temporary command post for the grouping of troops of the Eastern Military District, as well as the command post of the 38th separate motorized rifle brigade.
