Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, Army General Gerasimov, who arrived in Belarus to check the readiness of Russian formations and units to participate in the joint exercise “Allied Resolve-2022”, will visit a number of military units at Belarusian training grounds.
Recall that the first stage of the exercise is ending today – until February 9, the redeployment and creation of groupings of troops was carried out, the protection and defense of important state and military facilities, the state border, including in the airspace, was organized, and the coordination of Belarusian and Russian units was carried out .
From tomorrow to February 20, the second stage will be held, during which the issues of suppressing and repelling external aggression, as well as countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State will be worked out.
As the Chief of the Russian General Staff noted earlier: “In the current military-political situation, as well as new challenges and threats, we consider ensuring the military security of the Union State among our priority tasks.”
The given intensity of joint operational and combat training activities allows the armed forces of Russia and Belarus to maintain a high level of interaction, combat readiness and ensures the security of the two states.
Moscow and Minsk intend to further step up efforts to form a single defense space within the borders of the Union State. Belarus, as Valery Gerasimov repeatedly emphasized, has been and remains Russia’s closest neighbor, reliable ally and strategic partner.
