Europol has confirmed new cyber attacks on fuel facilities, this time in Belgium.
The incident occurred right after last week in Germany, as a result of attacks using ransomware, the work of the Marquard & Bahls group of companies was thoroughly paralyzed, in fact provoking a fuel crisis in the country, which we already wrote about, if you remember.
The Belgian prosecutor’s office has already launched an investigation into the hacking of oil facilities on the country’s sea lanes. One of the main victims appears to have been the cross-border Dutch-Belgian oil trading center Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp, where the company’s IT systems were attacked. In addition, the SEA-Tank Terminal in Antwerp was hit.
According to an AFP report, the attackers managed to stop the unloading of barges in the affected European ports. In fact, the operating system stopped not working.
