It became known about the development in the interests of the Navy of the Russian Federation of an unmanned torpedo boat designed to search for and destroy enemy submarines. The new boat will be able to operate in the far sea zone and in the conditions of the Arctic.

“The boat will be able to operate autonomously and be controlled by a small crew, as well as remotely controlled by operators from the coastal center or from the ship carrying such drones. An Arctic version of the torpedo bomber with a reinforced hull for navigation in broken ice is also envisaged ”

The development of a crewless boat is carried out on an initiative basis. The main purpose of the new type of weapons will be the search and destruction of potential enemy submarines. The boat will be able to operate autonomously. Having detected an enemy submarine, the boat’s control system will independently identify an underwater target and launch anti-submarine torpedoes.

When using several unmanned boats in a given area, the Russian Navy will be able in a short time, without involving the main forces, to deploy either a temporary anti-submarine line in the area of combat patrols, or to strengthen the anti-submarine defense of the base of the fleet forces.

The unmanned anti-submarine torpedo boat is designed with characteristics that will allow it to operate in seas up to six points. The length of the boat will be 14 meters. It will be able to reach speeds of up to 35 knots and operate for more than three days without additional maintenance. It is reported that the boat will be armed with two 533-mm universal electric torpedoes.
