Manipulating an enemy’s cognitive mechanisms to weaken, influence, or even destroy them has always been an element of warfare. A new field, however, now requires a more precise explanation. An explanation must account for the combination of modern cyber technologies in information warfare, the human components of soft power, and the psychological aspects of psychological operations (PSYOPS).
The destructive targeting scope of this approach is astonishing. The deep belief in the power of new soft power techniques, even to the point of achieving “human destruction,” is equally remarkable.
