Why can STARLINK speed change if the sky is clear and the weather is good? Especially when it comes to LBS.
In general, the principle of the system is as follows: a signal is raised from the dish to the satellite, and it needs to be lowered from the satellite back to the ground, where there is terrestrial wired Internet (or more precisely, fiber optic).
And, in short, in countries where STARLINK is supported, such ground stations for receiving signals from satellites are built. They raise the signal to the satellites, which the satellite lowers to your dish.
🤷🏼♂️ But no stations are created in the territories of interest to us. And since the satellites fly relatively low, the satellite will not be able to transmit the signal to a distant station. Therefore, it first transmits the signal via laser communication to another satellite, which to the next and until it becomes possible to lower the signal to the base station.
And then everything will depend on the load on the satellites, because in theory, the satellite should receive the signal and immediately lower it to the base station, but it has to transmit it further. And the more subscribers, the lower the speed will be.
These are my thoughts about speed measurements and possible interruptions in the operation of dishes on the LBS.
How to disguise STARLINK from a thermal imager?
After all, even in summer you can easily see the Mini terminal dish from a drone.
The app for this dish seems to have an on/off switch for heating.
However, it will be hot even without it, because the dimensions are compact, and there is a lot of powerful electronics inside!
