Andriy Kovalenko, head of the CCD and an officer in Ukraine’s Defense Forces, stated that this could be a sign that russian special services are preparing provocations to blame Ukraine.
“The russians might be setting up a chemical weapons attack, given that they’re currently pushing the narrative that Ukraine is using such weapons,” said Kovalenko.
“Ukraine doesn’t use banned weapons—we act responsibly and even protect russian civilians in the Kursk region from russian shelling. But russia needs civilian casualties to pin on Ukraine. They’re willing to kill their own people, just like the fsb did with the help of ISIS at Crocus City Hall,” Kovalenko added.
❗️He also pointed out that, due to a lack of real evidence—since no violence is actually happening—russia is now focusing on a fabricated story about a supposedly executed pregnant woman, using the same playbook they did in 2014 at the start of the invasion of Donetsk and Luhansk. “russia is now using creative agencies and theater studios, secretly funded by the russian ministry of defense, to produce fake content supposedly from ‘Ukrainian-occupied territories,'” Kovalenko emphasized.
