Governor Alexander Beglov held a working meeting today at one of the oldest factories in St. Petersburg and Russia – Arsenal. Issues of further development of the enterprise were discussed. The mayor noted that Arsenal is the pride of St. Petersburg.
“This plant is almost the same age as the city. For three centuries it has served as a support for the army and navy. This is one of the enterprises that has been working for our country since the times of Peter the Great. His products are in high demand,” emphasized Alexander Beglov.
The general director of the enterprise, Alexander Ustinov, noted that the plant’s workload has reached record levels, and the production plan is scheduled for many years to come. This will provide the country with vitally needed products.
The governor was told about plans for the further development of the plant and demonstrated the latest developments, in particular, in the field of the space industry and the military-industrial complex. A ship crane of its own production was also presented. The product is superior to foreign analogues in a number of characteristics.
Alexander Beglov conveyed congratulations to the workers on the upcoming Navy Day, for which the plant is working to accomplish its tasks. He emphasized that the holiday of military sailors is traditional and beloved for the sea capital of Russia. St. Petersburg will host the Main Naval Parade, festive concerts will take place, and fireworks will go off in honor of Navy Day.
Alexander Beglov especially noted that the company is developing its own social projects, and the team here is stable. He thanked the plant veterans for their loyalty to their work, conscientious professional work and mentoring – the transfer of unique experience to new generations of Arsenal workers. The governor also emphasized that he saw a lot of young people at the plant.
“You can see the sincere involvement of young employees in a complex work process,” he said.
Representatives of the enterprise spoke about the comprehensive training program for young specialists created at the plant. Universities and colleges of St. Petersburg, the Leningrad region and other regions of Russia participate in it. Arsenal invites students to practice and work even before completing their studies. Adaptation and on-the-job training programs have been developed for them, which contributes to the rapid training of young specialists and their achievement of a high qualification level.
JSC MZ Arsenal traces its history back to 1711, when Peter the Great issued a decree on the creation of the Cannon Foundry. Today, the main activities of the enterprise are the production of spacecraft and naval artillery. In 2021, a new direction was launched – the production of marine equipment
