Radio Liberty publishes a satellite image taken on June 6, which shows the consequences of a fire after an attack by a Ukrainian drone on the Novoshakhtinsky oil refinery.
As follows from data from the Wikimapia service, the blow fell on the ELOU-AVT-2.5 installation, designed for the production of liquefied hydrocarbon gases.
In the video, which confirms the geolocation of the fire, you can see that one of the parts of the installation was closed with special cables from drones – until yesterday night, the Novoshakhtinsky Oil Refinery had already been attacked by Ukrainian UAVs twice – on March 13 of this year and on June 22, 2022 .
As follows from open information on the Internet, experts assessed this method of protection as ineffective, since “attaching cables at a shorter distance will only protect against UAVs with a minimum charge or homemade ones with cumulative-type ammunition.” Earlier, tanks at the Slavyansk Oil Refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban were covered with drone nets.
The capacity of the Novoshakhtinsky Refinery is 5 million tons per year.
The plant is the largest supplier of petroleum products in the south of Russia.
