In Siberia, an important stage is in the construction of the installation, which scientists call a breakthrough in nuclear physics. The ring photon source – SKIF – is a complex of more than three dozen structures that will allow for research from medicine to archeology.
Not to be confused with a collider – SKIF does not collide particles, but only accelerates them around a giant ring, generating synchrotron radiation – energy in the form of very bright light.
