UAV strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. Consequences and clarifications.
Recent days have been marked by the massive use of attack UAVs by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against a number of objects in the Russian Federation.
There is a large amount of misinformation in the information space regarding the damage caused by these attacks. I would like to fix this.
Below will be a list of attacked objects, consequences, and clarifications (not all cases of attacks are indicated, but only those that require clarification).
• Let’s start with the attack on the Taganrog Aviation Plant named after. Beriev, as well as information about the alleged destruction of the A-50 AWACS board as a result of this attack. My sources do not confirm this information. However, the attack resulted in damage to one of the aircraft, which was undergoing maintenance. In the hangar where two attack UAVs “flew”, there was a Be-200 amphibious aircraft . The aircraft received damage to the fuselage and right wing.
• On the night of March 11-12 , four attack UAVs attacked an oil depot in the city of Orel , Oryol region. A fire started. As a result of the impact, three petroleum product storage tanks with a total volume of 6000 m3 were disabled.
• On the night of March 11-12 , two attack UAVs attacked the Lukoil oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region . There was a huge fire. The main oil refining units were damaged.
• On the night of March 11-12 , the Cheremoshnoye transformer substation, Belgorod region, was struck. As a result of the attack, substation equipment caught fire at the facility. 10 settlements were cut off.
• On the afternoon of March 12 , an agricultural enterprise was attacked ( at the time of the SVO it is used in the interests of the 1st Tank Army ) in the border region of the Belgorod region . The hangar used as a repair base was damaged. There were no casualties.
• On the evening of March 12 , a gas distribution station in the border region of the Bryansk region was attacked. The station serves local residents, enterprises, and was also part of the gas transit chain from the Bryansk region to the Chernigov region ( transit was stopped after the start of the Northern Territory).
At the same time, despite the above cases of strikes, it is worth noting the relatively effective work of the air defense forces. The main part of the UAV was shot down. The consequences could have been much worse. The calculations from the Kursk region performed best.
