The head of the country’s passive defense organization explained the process of identifying and repelling 200 cyber attacks in a month leading up to the elections.
According to the report of National Stability, Jahan Ara TV program from Ofoq channel on the evening of Monday, March 14, with the presence of “Sardar Jalali, the head of the country’s non-operational defense organization”, on the topic of achievements and actions in the field of cyber defense, was aired live on the national media.
In this program, the head of the country’s passive defense organization, in response to a question about how to provide cyber security for the recent elections, which for the first time required cyber communication, especially online authentication, stated: providing comprehensive security for three important events, i.e., 22 Bahman, the half-time festival Sha’ban and the holding of elections were carried out in a context that was affected by the tragic and terrorist incident of the anniversary of Martyr Soleimani, which resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of our compatriots, and this greatly burdened the responsibility of the intelligence, security and defense forces.

He continued: Round-the-clock struggle and detailed and comprehensive planning, Jihadi actions and with the spirit of Basij, caused us to witness an all-round security in these three major national events, which deserves praise.
According to Sardar Jalali, the recent elections were held with the motivated and enthusiastic participation of the people, and we witnessed all kinds of atmosphere creation and media wars to keep the people away from the stage and at the voting booths. On the other hand, we have to pay attention to the fact that the enemy made every effort to disrupt the process of holding the elections, which, of course, focused the country’s security efforts, and brought a very peaceful election with a very high calm factor to the country.
He explained: According to the agreement of the Ministry of Interior and the Guardian Council, mainly the authentication section was focused on the field of communication and cyber space, which by anticipating different layers of communication and necessary arrangements, this happened in the best way and almost witnessed no disconnection of communication. In this sense, we passed a good test in this field.
The head of the country’s non-operational defense organization went on to explain the efforts made to establish continuous and permanent communication during the voting process and said: For example, we were following the 99.8 percent coefficient in the communication coefficient, which despite the threats and turbulent environment which existed, this valuable action was achieved.

According to Sardar Jalali, in the month leading up to the elections, we witnessed nearly 200 attacks of all kinds in the cyber field, both small and large.
Explaining the situation, he said: During this period, we witnessed 4 or 5 big attacks, which our loved ones in the security department of the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Communications and Defense passively controlled and repelled parts of it by dividing the work that had been done. Other attacks were well controlled and neutralized by the mobilization work done by the Ministry of Communications specialists.
According to the head of the country’s passive defense organization, in the last 6 months, we had at least 100 DDos attacks, which were mostly foreign and were carried out with the aim of interrupting services to citizens, which fortunately, the Ministry of Communications was able to maintain the stability and continuity of services slow down.
