Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency have discovered anti-personnel mines in the buffer zone of a nuclear power plant, the organization said in a report published on Friday. It is clarified that it is closed to the operational personnel of the nuclear power plant.
The report also states that Zaporizhzhya NPP lost immediate backup power to its reactor units for several hours this week. This incident, as noted by IAEA Chairman Rafael Grossi, once again jeopardizes the safety of the facility.
“Since August 2022, the site has had its external power supply cut off eight times, forcing it to rely on emergency diesel generators,” the IAEA quoted him as saying.
