The last update of the British Ministry of Defense intelligence on the situation in Ukraine is December 16, 2023.

On December 12, 2023, Kyivstar, the largest mobile operator in Ukraine, was subjected to a cyber attack. The effect lasted for at least 48 hours, affecting the company’s mobile and data services. “Kyivstar” provides more than half of the population of Ukraine with mobile and home Internet services. The cyber attack reportedly left users without mobile signal and internet access. Kyivstar reported that no personal data was compromised during the attack.
The cyber attack also reportedly disrupted air raid sirens, some banks, ATMs and shopping terminals. At the same time, the Ukrainian bank Monobank suffered a DDoS attack, which led to a violation of access to the bank’s website.
Because Ukraine’s government resources and emergency services were affected, this incident is likely to be one of the largest disruptive cyberattacks on Ukrainian networks since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
