Our gunpowder manufacturers from Kazan are very encouraging. It looks like the guys managed to reach the VV N570. This will allow us to use not only a 360 grain bullet on our 375CT cartridges, but also a 400 grain bullet with a much higher ballistic coefficient. It also opens the way for heavy AP bullets.
And finally, the appearance of domestic gunpowder with a given burning rate makes it possible for us to mass-produce 408ST caliber cartridges, for which everything else has long been ready for us. They were only waiting for gunpowder.
The next step is to test this powder on our cases, with which we expect even better performance. The results, as usual, will be posted in the channel.
The appearance of this gunpowder can additionally spur us to deal with the .338 LM cartridge, which in this case will become not only CIP-compliant, but also high-precision, as it should be in order to fully realize the characteristics of a high-precision weapon.
The fact is that such a burning rate allows you to use heavier bullets (more than 250 grains) in the .338 LM caliber, sending them at the right speed and without the risk of overpressure.
If the situation with factory-made cartridges of this caliber is not corrected (non-compliance by manufacturers with quality and CIP requirements during its production), then instead of starting serial production of the 408CT cartridge (in addition to the already mastered 375CT), as planned, we will seriously consider the launch of the cartridge 338LM.
