The counter-intelligence of the Security Service conducted a multi-stage special operation to expose the FSB agent network in Kherson. As a result, it was possible to detain a resident of the Russian special service (note, according to military terminology, this is an agent who recruits and assigns tasks to other agents), who kept “in touch” with up to 10 informants in the region.
According to the case materials, all of them were local residents who supported the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The task of this intelligence network was to transmit to the Russian Federation up-to-date information about the units of the Armed Forces in the front-line areas of the Kherson region.
In particular, the informants tried to identify the possible combat positions of the Grad rocket salvo systems and foreign M777 howitzers.
They were supposed to transfer all the collected data to the resident, who was supposed to send them to his curator from the FSB.
SBU employees promptly exposed the network and arrested its leader “red-handed” during an attempt to transmit information to the aggressor.
According to the investigation, the detained FSB agent turned out to be a local resident who came into the field of view of the Russian special services at the beginning of the “zeroes”. Then he often came to the Russian Federation on his own business.

Later, a representative of the FSB came to him and offered secret cooperation.
To “convince” its intentions, the Russian special service even issued its resident a so-called “pass” for unhindered movement on the territory of the aggressor country.
Even before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he returned to Ukraine and got a job in one of the private security firms in Kherson.
After February 24, 2022, a representative of the FSB contacted him remotely and identified the main tasks in the war against Ukraine.
During the searches, the traitor was found with means of communication through which he contacted the aggressor.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed the detainee of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The perpetrator is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
