July 28 – first container train from China arrived in Russia via the railway bridge in the Jewish Autonomous Region.
The cross-border bridge between the village of Nizhneleninskoye and the Chinese city of Tongjiang was previously used only for export shipments of coal and ore due to the lack of the necessary infrastructure on the Russian side. Now, import transportation has also been launched along it, a transport and logistics center is being built to receive 340,000 containers a year from China. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2024.

The first freight train is carrying 55 containers with automotive components, the destination station is Elektrougli (Moscow Region). It is assumed that at first container trains will pass over the bridge once a week. However, the checkpoints on the bridge have already been switched to round-the-clock operation in order to significantly increase the frequency of trains in the future.
