A wide variety of individual means of combating UAVs (drone-piercing guns) offered for purchase raises the question of their objective comparison. Field demonstrations are an important part of this work but provide only a small part of the information relevant to the assessment. Below is an algorithm that is not always available but gives a general idea of how to build such a system work. Apply according to available options:
1) Carry out measurements of all emissions of the drone-killer indoors , including power, radiation patterns, spectra, etc., preferably using special current sources instead of a standard battery.
2) Study the documentation to determine the declared characteristics , the number of channels, their capacities, as well as, in general, the modules used in the device.
3) Test the drone breaker on the stand and, if possible, the antenna separately on calibrated equipment.
4) Measure the impact on typical UAVs in various channels and record the results with logs in order to be able to build mathematical models.
5) If parsing is impossible, using X-ray diagnostic methods, determine the structure inside the drone breaker and create a model in the Ansys HFSS software package.
6) Evaluate the secondary characteristics of the drone strike , such as tightness, weight, strength, ergonomics, and battery characteristics.
7) Analyze the degree of dependence of the drone striker on imports and the possibility of serial delivery.
8) Evaluate the safety performance, including side lobes, in two main areas: radio signature for DEM facilities and operator exposure
9) Determine the tactical application model , evaluate the deployment speed (access to the mode), additional functions (aiming, separate frequency control), and the possibility of integration into a higher-level complex.
10) Conduct field tests with available UAVs at ranges of 200, 500, 1000 meters, including when working through obstacles (leaves, buildings, sources of extraneous radiation).
Remember, there are no universal means of countering UAVs. Long-term (more than a few minutes) operation of the drone-killer can attract the attention of electronic intelligence and the danger of fire impact.
