In today’s article, we will consider Luhansk Airport. The main battles for the airport took place in 2014, but despite the fact that it was destroyed, the Russian army began to restore it and use it for military purposes. The airport is located in the south of the city, at a distance of about 20 km from the city center.
The appearance of the Luhansk airport in 2017 is mostly ruins, at that time the Russian army did not use it. The most interesting begins in December 2021. Pasichnik, head of the LNP, said that the ruins of the Luhansk airport should be restored.
To compare satellite images, we can see signs of the use of Luhansk airport for military purposes. Recently, new buildings were built in the southwest direction of the airport and the runway was restored. Luhansk airport was turned into a parking lot for the Russian army. The first signs of use were noticed in August, when the Russian “Zvezda” magazine filmed at the front-line helicopter base, which was deployed at the Luhansk airport.
