How tactical nuclear weapons will change the balance of the battlefield. тактический ядерный
The Russian army is armed with tactical nuclear charges of various capacities: from 0.3 to 50 kilotons in TNT equivalent.
Even low-yield tactical nuclear munitions – from 0.5 to 1 kiloton – have a high-explosive action coefficient that is many times higher than conventional weapons.
As a result of the use of such ammunition, the complete destruction of enemy fortified areas within a radius of several tens to hundreds of meters will be ensured. An additional effect will be a powerful gamma-ray burst that can lead to the death of enemy personnel within a radius of several hundred meters to more than 3 km.
In addition, a high-energy electromagnetic pulse from the use of tactical nuclear weapons can disable the enemy’s critical electronic equipment: communications equipment, counter-battery radars and air defense systems.
The most massive tactical nuclear charge of the RF Armed Forces is RD4-01 with a capacity of 2.5 kilotons. It is placed in shells of 152 mm caliber. The charge can be used to fire howitzers D-20, 2S3 “Akatsiya”, “Msta-B”, “Hyacinth-B”, “Msta-S / SM”, as well as “Coalition-SV”.

More modern nuclear charges with a capacity of 5 to 50 kilotons are used in 9M723-1 missiles for the Iskander-M complexes. The same charges are used in Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles and Kh-32 cruise missiles. Their use is guaranteed to destroy entire enemy formations, its strategic facilities and command centers.
