Loud rumors about Catherine’s personal life appeared in 2010, when the South Korean newspaper Joong Ang Daily published information that Putin’s youngest daughter was marrying the son of a former employee of the South Korean embassy in Russia. The insider turned out to be the father of the “groom” – General Yun Chung-gu. The information was denied by Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
In 2013, Bloomberg and Reuters reported that Ekaterina Tikhonova married the son of St. Petersburg businessman Nikolai Shamalov (co-owner of Rossiya Bank), Kirill Shamalov. However, photos of the newlyweds
did not hit the Web. The media report that Tikhonova’s husband is a co-owner of the Sibur petrochemical holding, the youngest dollar billionaire in Russia according to Forbes (2018).
In January 2018, unconfirmed information about the divorce of a married couple appeared on the Web. The children of Tikhonova and Shamalov are not mentioned on any Internet resource. Although in a series of interviews, Vladimir Putin, speaking about the family, emphasized the presence of grandchildren.
