PLA Navy at the Dalian Liaonan Shipyard

Two destroyers of Project 055 and one destroyer of Project 052D are in high readiness at the Shanghai Jiangnan Changxing Shipbuilding and Heavy Industry Corporation (“Jiangnan-Changxing”) of the Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) of the Shanghai Shipbuilding Company, part of the Chinese state shipbuilding corporation and China Shipbuilding State Corporation (CSSC). Photos of the new section of the third Chinese aircraft carrier being built at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai have been released. The new aircraft carrier is substantially larger than its predecessor, the Shandong aircraft carrier. Its displacement will be 80,000 tons, and the power plant will be non-nuclear. At the same time, the new ship will be equipped with an electromagnetic catapult, which will significantly expand the possibilities of using carrier-based aircraft.


China’s second aircraft carrier, Shandong R17, today left base in Dalian and began working on missions at sea Bohai with new J-15 fighters and Z-18 helicopters on board, specially adapted to operate from this aircraft carrier. This testing and testing period is expected to last about three weeks.
