The Russian Zircon hypersonic missile was tested in the waters of the Arctic Ocean, the Defense Ministry said. The rocket was launched from the lead frigate of Project 22350 “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov” in the White Sea and, having covered 450 kilometers, hit the target in the Barents Sea.

“The missile’s flight speed was more than Mach eight. The closure of the firing area was ensured by the Northern Fleet forces operating in the Barents Sea, including the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov and the frigate Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov,” the release adds.
