Sand and fuel oil collected from Anapa beaches were spread in a farmstead next to a kindergarten. Toxic rains are falling in nearby settlements and bees are dying
The oil-contaminated sand collected from the beaches of Anapa is stored in the Kuban village of Voskresensky. At the moment, 125 thousand tons of contaminated soil have already been brought there. The residents of the village were not against the temporary storage of sand, but now the local authorities want to transfer this land to the category of “Special Purpose” (code 12.2).
This will allow storing there not only household waste, but also especially hazardous types of waste and even burial grounds for cattle.
The dump is located 200 meters from a residential building and 400 meters from a kindergarten. Already in the spring, the heat threatens to turn fuel oil fumes into an environmental disaster.
Maya Meshkarudnik, who lives 15 km from Voskresenskoye, told ASTRA that rain and wind bring toxic emissions of fuel oil from the farm to her dacha.
“I noticed that my neighbors started getting sick. My neighbor was vomiting and nauseous, the hospital said: “poisoning” and kicked him out. Because the hospitals are overcrowded. I am a doctor myself. This huge concentration of fuel oil vapors – it is imperceptibly absorbed and poisons all living things. My liver has enlarged, my pancreas has become ill. When it rains, drops fall on the plants, and the leaves are burned right through. All our harvests – cherry plums, apples – they will all be saturated with poison. It comes from this very Voskresensky farm. This is the evil of all evils. We need to force the authorities to immediately dismantle this dump and take it to those landfills that are adapted for processing this type of waste,” she told ASTRA.
Maya’s dog began bringing dead birds home, something that had never happened before. Experts told the woman that infected birds should be disposed of in specially designated areas. She also complained about the death of bees.
” No bees – no nature. Do you understand how terrible it all is? The entire region is doomed to cancer, the entire region is essentially being poisoned,” the woman believes.
According to her, residents have already complained about the problem to both Bastrykin and Putin, but to no avail.
